I am so excited to share this surprise proposal today! Lucas and Quinn are such a great couple and I was honored to be able to capture this special moment in their lives.
A Surprise Proposal in Sugar Hill, NH
This surprise proposal took place on a beautiful sunny afternoon in June. Lucas picked a spot among the lupine fields in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire, and the scenery couldn’t have been more perfect! The wildflower field, with the White Mountains in the background, was stunning.
Lucas picked the location in Sugar Hill because his family has a camp local to the area, and so the lupine have always been special to them. I loved that he picked a location for the proposal with significant meaning! That made it even more memorable.
So while I hid nearby disguised as another lupine admirer, Lucas popped the question, Quinn said yes, and I snapped away! It was so fun to be able to photograph Quinn’s reaction to the surprise, as well as their absolute joy from the moment.

The Sugar Hill Lupine
If you have never had the pleasure of seeing the lupine, you must make a trip to the White Mountains! They are beautiful purple and pink wildflowers that grow in fields all throughout New England, but a very large concentration of them grow in New Hampshire. The towns where they are most visible are just north of the White Mountains - Sugar Hill (where this surprise proposal took place) and Franconia. The best time to see them is in June, as that is when they are fully in bloom.
As a local photographer in NH, I am very familiar with all of the best places to see the lupine - including places that are off the beaten path! So if you are considering a photo session in the area, I can help you pick a location where we can avoid any crowds and see some gorgeous scenery.
