An Intimate VRBO Wedding in Newry, Maine

Planning a VRBO wedding is such a wonderful way to create a meaningful, laid-back celebration, and Zach and Ally’s intimate Newry, Maine, wedding was the perfect example of just how special these days can be. From the mountain views to the cozy, cabin-style setting, their wedding felt personal, intentional, and full of heart from start to finish.

Zach and Ally are from Vermont and hosted their wedding at Skiesta, a stunning VRBO in Newry, ME that can accommodate up to 38 guests. Having the entire home for the weekend allowed them to slow things down, spend quality time with their favorite people, and truly enjoy every moment of their day! As a New Hampshire wedding photographer, I’ve seen lots of unique ideas for weddings, and this day was definitely one of my favorites. I was honored to be there to capture it all.

Why a VRBO Wedding Is Such a Special Option

Hosting a VRBO wedding gives you the freedom to fully customize your day, and that’s exactly what Zach and Ally did. Because this was a private property, everything about the wedding was DIY and very sentimental. Their guests included their parents, grandparents, and best friends – just the people they love the most!

Guests had full access to the property, which made the day feel extra relaxed. Cocktail hour was outside on the walkout terrace downstairs, lawn games were set up for guests to enjoy, and everyone was able to mingle throughout the afternoon.

One of my favorite details was the bar setup. They used a canoe to house all the drinks on the porch! It matched the outdoorsy mountain vibe perfectly and was such a fun touch.

Zach + Ally’s Intimate Wedding Day in Newry, Maine

The day started with everyone getting ready inside the house. The morning felt so calm and connected! When the time came, Zach and Ally shared a first look right on the porch, with amazing mountain views behind them. It was the perfect moment!

Then their reception space inside was absolutely stunning. The room where dinner and dancing took place was STUNNING.

It had a cozy cabin feel, but with huge, floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out at the views outside. And the table decor they chose was so elegant!

In addition to super yummy food for cocktail hour and dinner, Zach and Ally planned some sweet personal touches as well. Instead of a traditional guestbook, they opted for a Polaroid guestbook (I love this idea!), and their vintage-style cutting cake featured a custom topper of their dog taking a bite. Such a cute alternative to traditional cake toppers! Cupcakes rounded out the dessert table so everyone had a little something sweet.

As the sun set, we headed back to the porch for golden hour portraits, which is hands-down my favorite time of any wedding day. By that point, you’re fully relaxed and the nerves of the day are gone, so your energy is amazing! Plus, the lighting at this time of day is absolutely gorgeous.

The rest of the evening was filled with heartfelt toasts and lots of dancing. They had an incredible band, Evansville Transit Authority (ETA), come out all the way from their town in Vermont. They were a blast!

I photographed the full day, from details and getting ready to dancing, and every moment reflected just how much love and joy surrounded these two. Congratulations, Zach & Ally!
