I absolutely love photographing elopements – there is so much meaning and intentionality in the day. And Haylee and Kaleb’s NH elopement in the White Mountains was no exception!
Their day was incredibly beautiful, even with (rather, especially with) a little rain. If you’ve been thinking about planning an elopement in the White Mountains, keep reading for some great inspiration!

A Meaningful NH Elopement Day
Haylee and Kaleb chose to have a small, intimate elopement in the White Mountains before celebrating later that weekend with a more traditional wedding. They picked their elopement date specifically because it was their 10-year anniversary. I loved that it was a day with so much meaning already– it made everything extra special!
They started the day with a first look and private vows at a super cozy cabin in Bethlehem, NH. The cabin made the perfect backdrop as they exchanged their vows, and it really set the mountainy tone for the day. From there, we met up with their parents and best friends to head to our ceremony site.
Because the weather was rainy and overcast, we had to adjust our location plans a few times (which is the beauty of an elopement – you can be much more flexible!), before deciding to head to Echo Lake Beach in Franconia for their ceremony. Despite the rain, we were able to get a nice view there, so we all agreed it was the perfect ceremony site. The mist hanging over the lake, combined with fall foliage, made for such a peaceful and romantic setting!
After the ceremony, H + K embraced the moment and had fun with newlywed portraits along the lake. One of the biggest perks of an elopement like this is the relaxed pace. You can really enjoy the moment without any pressure to head to the next event in the timeline! H + K were even able to include their dogs, which is something that’s not always possible at larger, more traditional venues.

Why a Rainy Day Can Be Magic for a NH Elopement
I always tell my couples that a rainy or overcast wedding day can actually be so magical. The lighting makes colors absolutely pop in your photos (check out Haylee’s bouquet!!), and the rain can add an extra layer of mood and coziness to the day. A little rain can make everything feel even more intimate and unforgettable, especially on an intentional elopement day like this one.
If you love this cozy, atmospheric vibe, you might also enjoy a different take on a White Mountains elopement, The Smiths’ snowy elopement, which shows how magical this region can be in the winter season!
