Engagement Photo Locations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
New Hampshire is full of naturally beautiful locations that are perfect for engagement sessions! I don’t think it’s any secret but my ABSOLUTE favorite locations are in the White Mountains! I've spent my entire life exploring the White Mountain National Forest and I know tons of beautiful hidden gems. In this blog I’ll share my favorite regions of the White Mountains for an engagement session and tell you all about what each region has to offer!
Franconia Notch
Franconia Notch is possibly one of the most iconic locations in the White Mountains; Artist Bluff and Echo Lake Beach are popular destinations and there's no wonder why! This is hands down my favorite region of the White Mountains! Each season has something special to offer. My favorite month to visit is in June when the wildflowers are at peak bloom.
Key features: hiking trails, lakes, wildflower fields, excellent cell phone service with AT&T
Good to know: Public restrooms are limited, especially during the "off season" Nov-May. Consider stopping in Lincoln NH if you're traveling on 93 North for a quick bathroom break.

Crawford Notch
A little further up into the mountains is Crawford Notch. This area of the White Mountains is a little more peaceful and slightly less busy (unless you visit during fall, then you're just going to find large crowds everywhere you go!) This area offers tons of walking trails for all levels (with mountain top views and waterfalls), an old train station, visitor centers and a pond with giant mountain views.
Key features: mountain views, hiking trails, visitor centers, waterfalls
Good to know: Minimal cell phone service, public restrooms are limited

Lincoln/Woodstock Region
Another one of my top choices in the White Mountains is the Lincoln/Woodstock Region. Our family spends a lot of time camping and hiking in this area, it's always been a favorite! The famous Kancamagus highway begins in Lincoln and takes you through the mountains over towards North Conway (another favorite region!) All along this famous road trip route you have opportunities to get out and enjoy the scenery! At the top of the Kancamagus is the Pemigewasset overlook; this overlook is the B E S T place to catch the sunset in the White Mountains!!!! As you near the end of the 32 mile trip through the mountains keep an eye out for Cheese Louise, my favorite place to stop in the White Mountains for lunch!
Key features: Scenic auto tour, hiking trails, woodsy/whimsical vibes, food
Good to know: There are no gas stations or stores on the Kancamagus, fuel up before you start! Please note that most overlooks on the Kancamagus do not get plowed after a snowstorm and are not accessible in the winter. Cell phone service is decent in town but is lost once you're on the Kancamagus.

North Conway Region
This is a tourist hotspot! North Conway is the place where you can do a little bit of everything! There are hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, food, a shopping mall and a bunch of breweries!
Key features: waterfalls, lakes, hiking, fields, mountain views, small town vibes, food, shopping mall. Excellent cell phone coverage through AT&T.
Good to know: Plan on sitting in traffic for long periods of time May-November. Since this region is popular purchase national forest day use passes online ahead

Twin Mountain Region
In between Franconia and Crawford Notch is the Twin Mountain region. This region has a lot of hiking trails for all skill levels, open fields with mountain views and wildflowers.
Key features: less populated, peaceful, hiking trails for all skill levels
Good to know: Public restrooms can be far and few between. Make sure you make a pit stop when you have the chance! Cell phone coverage is spotty.
